Day 1- TRABZON
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Day at leisure.
Day 2- TRABZON
After breakfast a tour in the city. Visit St. Sophia mosque, which dates back to 1263.Drive up to Sümela Monastry. The Monastry is located above a valley inside the Pontic Mountains. After an hour climb we will see the chapel's adorned with frescoes.
Day 3- A DAY IN TEA PLANTATIONS AND WILD NATURE
We will begin our day with a sip of tea in a village near Rize. Driving through Fırtına Valley arrive to Çamlı Hemşin Village. We will take a little walk through wild nature and pine tree forests and visit Zilkale Castle.On our way back you will have the opportunity to taste the regional food cooked by the villagers.
Day 4- HOPA – YUSUFELI - ERZURUM
Today we will drive through National Park and arrive to Yusufeli and visit the Four churches.
Day 5- KARS – ANI RUINS (Armenian border)
Driving through the city of Kars we'll be arriving to Ani. The former Armenian capital. We will visit the famous Ani ruins and see the well preserved frescoes from 9th and 12th centuries.
Day 6- DOGUBEYAZIT
Drive to Doğubeyazıt, many stops on the way. Visit to Ishak Paşa Palace which was buılt during the 18th cen. Panoramic view of the Ararat mountain and Anatolian plateau. Mt. Ararat (5165m.) where Noah's Ark belived to be landed. Drive to village near Ararat.
Day 7- VAN (TOOSPHA)
Arrive to Van, most important Urartian capital. Lake Van (1646m.) above sea level and it is the largest lake in Turkey (3713 square km). Visit the old city of Tooshpa and the citadel, ruins from 13th cen. Ulu mosque and Kizil mosque. We will take the boat from Gevaş to Akdamar. Visit to Akdamar Island. A church buılt by Armenian King Vaspurakan King Gagik I. in the 10th century. Red clay stone was used in the construction of this church and the walls are decorated with the scenes from the Old Testament.
Day 8- HASANKEYF - MIDYAT
On the Silk Road rout we will continue our way to Hasankeyf. We'll be vistiting the best preserved Caravansails. İn Hasankeyf, we will be seeing rock cut houses. On the Tigris river visit the ancient watch tower. Visit Tur-Abdin-mountain which was Aramaic Christians center. You'll have the opportunity to visit the living Syrian Orthodox comminity and the Mar Gabriel monastry. Drive to Midyat.
Day 9- MARDIN
Mardin, is very interesting with it's buıldings constructed of pastel colored naturel stone. The city was built on a hill top affording a bird's eye view of the Mesopotamien plain extending below. All the homes have flat roofs, giving this city a typical South - Eastern Anatolian appearance. Visit Ulu Mosque and Medrese.Visit Deir-az-Zafaran Monastry which still operates as boarding school for boys.
Day 10 - GÖBEKLİ TEPE - ŞANLIURFA –HARRAN
The first temple build during the Pre-historical times will be visited on our way. After the visit drive to Harran. We will be seeing the interesting mud brick buildings with cone and dome shaped roofs that are scattered over the dry plain. Drive to Urfa "The city of Prophets". İt is believed that this city was the home of five different prophets and the prophet Abraham was born in Urfa. Visit to Abraham's birth place near the famous Fish-lake.Visit the most İnteresting Bazaar in Urfa.
Day 11- EUPHRATES – MT. NEMRUT
Visit the Atatürk Dam on Fırat river. (Built on a high platau, is the lates and biggest project.) Visit the old Commagene Kingdom Antiochos I., the most important King of this civilization, built himself a monumental tumulus grave on the Mount Nemrut (2100 m). Today, we will be watching the unforgettable sun set from Mt. Nemrut.
Day 12- ANTAKYA(ANTIOCH)
Today we will be driving through mountains and natural surroundings about 310 km's.
Day 13 - ANTAKYA - ADANA
Visit to Seleucia Pierra, an antique city built on the west of Moses mountain. Visit the antique city of Antioch. Meet the Christian community. Drive to Adana.
